In addition, A Medigap plan cannot be used with a Medicare Advantage health plan.
It is illegal to sell a Medigap plan to someone already in a Medicare Advantage health plan.
Someone cannot have a Medicare Advantage and a Medigap/Supplement plan at the same time.
Medicare Advantage plans are different from Medicare Supplement Plans.
Beneficiaries cannot have a Medicicare Supplement Plan and a Medicare Advantage Plan at the same time.

Parts of Medicare
Original Medicare:
Includes both parts A and B Original Medicare is coverage managed by the federal government. Original Medicare covers most, but not all of the costs for approved health care services and supplies. After you meet your deductible, you pay your share of costs for services and supplies as you get them. There's no limit on what you'll pay out-of-pocket in a year unless you have other coverage.
Part A:
Part A helps cover inpatient care received while in a hospital, a skilled nursing facility, and, in limited circumstances, at home.
Part B:
Part B helps cover medically necessary doctor’s services and supplies to treat your health condition. This can include doctors visits, outpatient care, preventative services, ambulance services and durable medical equipment.
Part C / Medicare Advantage:
Medicare Advantage Plans, sometimes called “Part C” or “MA Plans,” are offered by private companies approved by Medicare. They must cover all benefits Original Medicare covers. They may also cover extra benefits that Original Medicare doesn’t cover, such as dental or vision care. There is a yearly out-of-pocket spending limit. These limits can be high but protect you if you need a lot of care. With Medicare Advantage plans, in many cases you can only use the doctors and hospitals that are in the plan’s network and service area.
Part D:
Part D Prescription plans help pay for your prescription drug medications. There are many choices, and we can help you pick a plan that fits your needs – discuss your medication, whether it is generic, where you fill your prescriptions. We can help you find the right fit for you.
Medicare Supplement Plans (also known as Medigap) :
The Medicare Supplement Plans or Medigap policy is in addition to Original Medicare. Medicare Supplement Insurance or Medigap policy is extra insurance you can buy from a private company. You can go to any doctor or hospital in the country that accepts Medicare. The Medigap will help cover your Medicare out-of-pocket costs. Medigap plans are standardized by law. Medicare SupplementPlans/ Medigap plans are identified in most states as plans A -D, F, G and K-N. All Medigaps of the same letter cover the same benefits. These companies can charge different prices for the same coverage. It pays to shop around. Medigap prices vary based on where you live and your age.
Stand Alone Insurance Plans - Separate from Medicare:
There are many other types of insurance plans, which may be available for additional premiums such as hearing, dental, vision, and long term care that you should be fully aware of how these plans may enhance your life and lives of your loved ones.
